In this interview with Valerie Bossman-Quarshie, we will try to answer to this question talking about the Black Policy Institute and the work done by this think tank to increase representation and diversity in policy making. 

How can a T-shirt change the life of a refugee?

We have answered to this question with Alexa Netty, Executive Director at SolidariTee, an international student-led charity with the aim of raising awareness about the refugee crisis and it's injustices.

Stella, originally from Nigeria, moved to the UK when she was very young, to pursue a better education and access career opportunities.

Stella wanted to become a psychologist and she studied hard to reach her goal, despite all the obstacles she had to face related to her migrant status and peer pressure.

The reason why we have decided to share her story is because she represents a younger generation that wants to make a change and give back to the community and to the people that helped and supported her during her journey.

Meet Rosemary Kunene, founder of Dignity Partnership a social enterprise that aims at providing self-employment support services for refugees and asylum seekers. 

Rosemary will share her experience living in direct provision as asylum seeker in Ireland and how she overcame difficulties and obstacles, studying and working to create a social enterprise that aims at restoring migrants' dignity through entrepreneurial skills and mentoring.

Meet the founder of We For Women, a virtual hive created with the aim of empowering migrants and refugees women in Ireland through training, mentoring and workshops.

Ecem will tell you everything about her experience and career in the humanitarian field, sharing as well her own experience as migrant woman between paperwork, language barrier and home sickness.

 

Marzia Bedoni and Alice Gualerzi, researchers at Fondazione Don Gnocchi's Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Clinical Biophotonics, will talk about the role of women in STEM in Italy and what does it mean to be a female scientist, working in a male dominated field, achieving amazing results and inspiring young generation to pursue a career in STEM.
